England
Both on the coast and lakes
So many different beaches and conditions to try - its time to start exploring!

Sailing Club with Coastal Rowing fleet
Draycote Water, Warwickshire
Great Lake for training as it is exposed to the prevailing wind.
Only FISA (World Rowing) specification boats are allowed. See the sailing club for membership details, or contact us to discuss whether you would like to give it a try - as we are members.
Steep pebble beach
Eastbourne and Bexhill, South England
Steep shingle beach with a dumpy shore break.
Estuary / beach launch
Exmouth, South West England
Excellent coastal club location - based in the estuary mouth with other launching opportunities for visitors from car parks along the coast.
Estuary launch
Hayling Island, Hampshire
We launched on the high tide from Fishery Creek campsite.
Take care of the currents and use the high tide as it is very muddy when the tide is out.
Steep sloping pebble beach
Herne Bay, Kent
North facing beach.
We launched near the rowing club at the West of the town - there is a useful wall that partially shields the launch area from Westerly winds.
Sheltered lake with sailing club facilities too.
Hollowell Scullers, Northamptonshire
Good place to practice those turns and build fitness. Useful as an Ave test centre.
Large expanse of water
Lake Ullswater, Cumbria
We launched from Waterside Camping near Pooley Bridge.
The conditions can be great for downwind surfing with the chop building up down the long legs of the lake.
Estuary launch
Itchenor, West Sussex
We used the car park and trolleyed the boats to the water.
Be careful of the currents - a lot of water flows in and out of the harbour!
Mostly sand with some rocks
Studland, Dorset
Sand and rocks with great access from the Knoll Bay National Trust car park. Slipway near the sailing club.
Quay slipway launch
Teignmouth, Devon
Coastal club location - based at the quay... and seemingly the local pub. You'll need to contact the Rowing Club for access and parking.
Strong club atmosphere - part of South West Rowing circuit.
Fantastic sandy beach
West Wittering, West Sussex, Southern England
Sandy very gently sloping beach / estuary.
Take your trolley with you - to avoid long walks as the tide goes a long way out.
Steep sloping pebble beach
Worthing, West Sussex
Take care - heavy shore break and pebbles. When we visited the wind was light, we rigged and launched near the Sea Lane Cafe where parking was easier too.
